Rignes: Hmm, that's a tough choice, I used to have a CH Flight Stick Pro and loved it. The T-16000 is a good choice too, but in a game where you have to keep your left hand on the keyboard the base buttons are mostly useless, the CH sticks don't have base buttons and concentrate them on the stick itself making all the buttons (5 buttons + 1 four way HAT and a POV HAT on the Combatstick, the fighterstick has two less puch buttons but two more four way HATs) more useful in these games.

CH products flight/combat/fighter sticks are unaltered since the 90s apart from being made into USB versions and work very well, their software also allows to map things more throughly even for the DOS versions of the games (which normally don't allow more than foru buttons that cannot be changed), living in the US you should be able to find a combatstick or fighterstick at a good price (here in Europe those things cost A LOT of money because they are imported in very low numbers), with the later option to upgrade to a HOTAS by buying the Pro Throttle, which can be made to work with the software in all the X-wing games, even though things like this didn't exist at the time the games work suprisingly well with a HOTAS. So I'm asking the community before I go spending any money. To this end I've done a little bit of research but haven't found a clear answer.
I know I can play the DOS versions using the mouse and keyboard but I really want to emulate it as it was back in the day and use the Windows 98 version. Rignes: OK, so when I originally played X-Wing I used an old flight stick (don't remember which one exactly). However, if I get a good quality USB to Gameport adapter that 100% emulates the ones that used to be on old sound cards, then in theory, it should work.ġ) Has anyone tried this and had any success?Ģ) If you've had success getting any decent flight stick to work with X-Wing, what model have you used? How difficult was it to get it working? I have an old Microsoft Sidewinder 3D Pro (marketed as the Precision Pro) that is supposed to not play well with these adapters. Specifically, I'm looking to see if there are any good USB to Joystick adapters that emulate an old fashioned Gameport 100%.
